‘The Unbound Book’ is een workshop en tweedaagse conference rond ‘reading and publishing in the digital age’.
The conventional notion of the book, based on centuries of print, is rapidly growing outdated. The book is coming unbound in a double sense: both freed from the bindings of the printed volume, and from the limitations of conventional text.
The entire concept of ‘bookness‘ needs reinvention. Critical cultural forces must step in to develop new models for reading, publishing, and learning.
With a wealth of exciting new possibilities, the book is left without obvious contours. Through panel discussions, presentations, workshops, and a book launch, the Unbound Book Conference brings together writers, librarians, publishers, theorists and designers to take part in defining new roles within this transformative landscape. Meer info

Esther Platteeuw, Master studente Illustratie uit Kask, werd laureate van ‘Goed voor Druk’, een illustratiewedstrijd op basis van portfolio.
Ze krijgt een publicatie in De Leeswelp.

De Jury over haar werk
Esther Platteeuw studeert nog aan het KASK in Gent en haar werk toont duidelijke invloeden. Maar tegelijk geeft ze blijk van persoonlijkheid en zin voor vernieuwing, en ze beheerst haar technieken met creativiteit. Haar werk is nog een zoektocht naar eigenheid en creatieve expressie, maar het vertoont een mooie coherentie. Het combineert emotie en humor op een onnadrukkelijke manier en is ook technisch gezien boeiend: grafisch interessante en gevarieerde combinaties, een fris kleurenpalet en een stijl die het oog vasthoudt. Haar gecontroleerde naïviteit getuigt nu al van een opvallende professionaliteit. Esther Platteeuw is een illustrator met een toekomst.

De wedstrijd werd georganiseerd door De Leeswelp en de Vlaamse Ilustratoren Club .
